Ad Agencies in Salt Lake City: 9 Advertising and Creative Firms for Local Businesses

This list is for a Salt Lake County owner who wants someone to make the ad itself: the radio spot, the billboard on I-15, the TV commercial, the new logo and the campaign that runs on all of it. Every agency below has an office in Salt Lake City that we confirmed on its own website and on a second, independent listing on October 27, 2026. Nobody paid to be on it.

Quick answer

For a small or mid-size Salt Lake County business that wants TV, radio or billboard ads made and placed, start with FUEL Marketing, Jibe Media or MāHK Advertising, which handle both the creative and the media buying. For a rebrand or a full campaign, look at Love Communications, BWP Communications, Struck or Modern8. Penna Powers is the usual fit for public agencies and nonprofits running behavior change campaigns.

  • All nine agencies have a Salt Lake City office confirmed on their own site and one outside listing.
  • An ad agency makes the ad and buys the airtime or billboard space. A creative agency mostly makes the brand and the ad. A digital marketing agency mostly runs Google, Meta and SEO.
  • None of the nine homepages we checked posted a price list, so expect to get a quote after a first call.

FUEL Marketing

Salt Lake City
Best for: Local businesses that want TV, radio and billboard ads made and bought by one shop

FUEL works out of a Sugar House office on 2700 South and lists TV and radio, outdoor, media planning and buying, branding and creative on its site, next to digital, social and SEO. That mix suits a dealership, a home services company or a clinic that wants a radio spot written, recorded and placed on Salt Lake stations without hiring three vendors.

Services: TV and radio, Outdoor, Media planning and buying, Branding and creative, Digital and social, Website design
2

Jibe Media

Salt Lake City
Best for: Small businesses that need ads, video and design from a small team

Jibe calls itself a Salt Lake City advertising agency and lists advertising, video production, motion graphics, design and web design. The office is on 600 East near downtown. If what you need is a 30 second spot for social and local TV plus print ads that match it, this is the size of shop that will take that job.

Services: Advertising, Video production, Motion graphics, Design, Web design, Social media
3

MāHK Advertising

Salt Lake City
Best for: Owners who want research and media buying behind the creative

MāHK sits on Parleys Way on the east bench. Its site lists media buying across digital and traditional channels, analytics, customer research and creative. It is also one of the suppliers on a State of Utah cooperative contract for marketing and advertising, which matters if you sell to a public entity that buys through state contracts. The old richter7.com address now forwards to MāHK's site.

Services: Media buying, Creative, Research, Analytics
4

BWP Communications

Salt Lake City
Best for: Consumer brands that need packaging, print and out-of-home in one look

BWP is on 100 South on the west side of downtown. Its site splits the work into branding, integrated advertising (print, display, out-of-home and traditional media), packaging design, PR and market research with surveys and focus groups. A food or product company that needs the box, the shelf talker and the billboard to match is the obvious client.

Services: Branding, Integrated advertising, Packaging design, Public relations, Market research
5

Love Communications

Salt Lake City
Best for: Mid-size companies that want one agency for brand, creative, media and PR

Love is on 200 West just south of downtown. Its site lists branding, creative, media buying, PR, video production, web development and audience research, which is the full set a traditional ad agency runs. Pick it when you want the strategy, the commercial and the media plan under one roof.

Services: Branding, Creative, Media buying, Public relations, Video production, Research
6

Penna Powers

Salt Lake City
Best for: Public agencies, health groups and nonprofits running behavior change campaigns

Penna Powers is on Major Street south of downtown. Its site lists creative advertising, PR, digital, social and public involvement, and says it specializes in traffic safety marketing, behavior change and public health. If the goal of your ad is to get people to buckle up or get screened, rather than to buy something, start here.

Services: Creative advertising, Public relations, Digital, Social media, Public involvement
7

Struck

Salt Lake City
Best for: Companies doing a rebrand or repositioning before a big campaign

Struck has an office on 200 South downtown. Its site leads with rebranding and repositioning, has a separate offer called STRKTR for designing physical spaces, and shows a Why Winter Exists campaign it made for the Utah Office of Tourism. Bring it in when the problem is the brand itself, not just this quarter's ads.

Services: Brand strategy, Rebranding, Campaigns, Physical space design
8

Modern8

Salt Lake City
Best for: Businesses that need a name, logo and brand system before they advertise

Modern8 is a downtown Salt Lake City brand design studio. Its site lists three things: brand strategy (research, positioning, messaging), brand design (identity and brand systems) and brand marketing (campaigns and assets). This is a creative agency in the strict sense. It builds what your ads will look like, and you may still need a media buyer to place them.

Services: Brand strategy, Brand identity design, Brand marketing campaigns
9

Boncom

Salt Lake City
Best for: Larger organizations running campaigns with events, influencers and PR

Boncom's Salt Lake City office is on 300 West near North Temple, and its contact page also lists Guadalajara, São Paulo and London. Services run from brand strategy and creative to paid media, PR, events, experiential design and influencer work. It is built for big campaigns, so a single-location shop will usually be a better fit higher on this list.

Services: Brand strategy, Creative and content, Paid media, Public relations, Events and experiential, Social and influencer

Ad agency, creative agency or digital marketing agency: which one you are hiring

The three names get used loosely, and agencies use whichever one their buyers search for. The difference that matters to you is what lands on your desk at the end of the month.

An ad agency writes and produces the ad, then buys the place it runs: the 30 second spot on KSL TV, the morning drive slot on a Salt Lake radio station, the billboard facing southbound I-15, the wrap on a UTA bus. The media buying is the part owners forget. Someone has to negotiate the schedule, check that the spots aired and send you the proof.

A creative agency makes the brand and the ad but often stops there. You get the logo, the color system, the packaging, the campaign idea and the finished files. Placing them is your job or another vendor's. Modern8 and Struck on this list lean this way.

A digital marketing agency runs your Google Ads, Meta ads, SEO and email. The creative is usually a set of ad images and landing pages tuned for clicks, and the report is cost per lead. If that is what you need, our separate guide to Salt Lake City marketing agencies covers those firms instead.

How we picked these nine

We started from the agencies that show up when you search for an ad agency or a creative agency in Salt Lake City, then threw out anyone we could not confirm. Each firm here had to show a Salt Lake City office on its own website and on one outside source, such as a Winmo or DesignRush profile, a chamber article or a state contract listing. Every site had to load on October 27, 2026.

Several names that still appear on older lists did not make it. One domain now runs an email service, one redirects to an unrelated site, one shows a 2010 copyright and no address, and two big national shops did not list a Salt Lake office on their own pages. We also left off the firms that are mostly Google Ads and SEO shops, because that is a different hire.

The order is by fit for a local business with one to a few locations, not by agency size. Shops that make the ad and buy the media come first, brand studios next, and agencies built for large campaigns last. We did not use star ratings, review counts or awards to rank anyone.

What a Salt Lake City campaign actually runs on

Before you call any of these firms, know which media you are paying them to fill. In Salt Lake County the usual list is local TV (KSL, plus the other network affiliates), radio, billboards along I-15, I-215 and Bangerter Highway, UTA bus wraps and TRAX station ads, and print or digital ads in the Salt Lake Tribune and the Deseret News. An ad agency should be able to tell you which of those reach the people in your service area and which only reach commuters passing through.

Local email newsletters are another option that does not need an agency. We sell ads in The Salt Lake Valley, which goes to about 2,400 Salt Lake County readers every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We write the ad for you and cap each issue at three ads. Our advertising page has the current prices, and our Local Directory is a cheaper way to get listed in front of the same readers.

If you serve one part of the valley, pick media that stays there. A plumber in Sandy does not need a billboard in North Salt Lake. Our Sandy and Salt Lake City city pages give you a feel for who lives where.

Questions to ask on the first call

Ask every agency the same questions so you can line the answers up afterward.

  • Who on your team will write and design my ads, and are they in the Salt Lake office or contracted out?
  • Do you buy the media yourselves, and how do you charge for it: a fee, a markup on the media, or a retainer?
  • Can you show me two campaigns you made for a business my size, with the actual ads?
  • How will I know the radio spots aired and the billboard went up? What report do I get each month?
  • Who owns the finished files, the logo and the video footage if we part ways?
  • What is the smallest project you take on?

When you do not need an agency yet

If you run one location and are just starting to advertise, a full ad agency is often more than the job needs. Get the basics right first: a complete Google Business Profile with photos and hours, a listing in our Local Directory, and one channel you can afford to run for three months straight. Our free AI 101 class shows local owners how to draft ad copy and social posts themselves, which covers a lot of what a small agency retainer pays for.

When you hire your first marketing person instead, the jobs board reaches Salt Lake County job seekers. Come back to this list once you are ready to put real money into TV, radio or a rebrand.

Common questions

What is the difference between an ad agency and a marketing agency in Salt Lake City?
An ad agency makes the ad and buys the space it runs in, such as TV, radio, billboards and print. A marketing agency in Salt Lake City usually means a digital shop that runs Google Ads, Meta ads, SEO and email. Some firms, like FUEL Marketing and Love Communications, do both.
How much does an ad agency in Salt Lake City cost?
None of the nine agencies on this list posted a price list on the pages we checked. Agencies charge by project, by monthly retainer, or with a fee or markup on the media they buy for you. Ask for a written scope that separates the creative fee from the media spend so you can compare quotes.
Do I need an agency to run a billboard or radio ad in Salt Lake City?
No. Billboard companies and radio stations sell space directly and many will help design a simple ad. An agency earns its fee when you run several channels at once, want a stronger ad than the station would make, or do not have time to check that everything ran.
What does a creative agency do?
A creative agency builds your brand and the look of your ads: name, logo, colors, packaging, campaign ideas and finished ad files. Many do not buy media, so you may need a separate media buyer or ad agency to place the work.
Are any of these agencies outside Salt Lake City?
All nine have an office in Salt Lake City. Boncom also lists offices in Guadalajara, São Paulo and London. We left off agencies whose Salt Lake office we could not confirm on their own website.
