The Salt Lake Valley is a free local newsletter for Salt Lake County. We keep this simple: we collect what we need to send you the newsletter and make it better, and nothing more.

What we collect

• Your email address when you subscribe.
• Your cell number, if you join our text program, along with a record of when and how you agreed to get texts.
• Basic engagement with our emails (whether an issue was delivered, opened, or a link was clicked).
• Anything you choose to send us (an event tip, a reply, an advertiser inquiry).

How we use it

• To send you the newsletter you signed up for.
• To measure what readers find useful and improve future issues.
• To respond to you when you reach out.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information. We use a small number of service providers to run the newsletter:

• Resend — sends our emails and processes delivery/open/click data.
• Stripe — processes advertiser payments (we never see full card details).
• Cloudflare — hosts the website.
• Telnyx: delivers our text messages.

Text messages

We use your cell number only to send the texts you signed up for. We don't sell or share mobile numbers or text opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Reply STOP to any text to opt out. Full details are in our SMS Terms.

Your choices

Every email has an unsubscribe link, and it works immediately. You can also email us to be removed or to ask what we have on file.

Children

The Salt Lake Valley is intended for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13.
