The best free splash pads in the Salt Lake Valley

Where to let the kids run wild in the water without spending a dime.

Good morning, Salt Lake.

When the valley hits the upper 90s, a splash pad is the cheapest hour of joy you can buy, which is to say free. Here are the ones worth loading the car for, all close to home.

Rotary Play Park splash pad, Liberty Park

Liberty Park has two ways to get wet: the splash pad at Rotary Play Park with a fire hydrant, fountains and a tunnel, and the Seven Canyons Fountains, a little replica of the streams flowing out of the Wasatch's seven canyons. Mature shade trees and a big playground make it an easy half-day.
๐Ÿ•Hours: Daytime, warm months
๐Ÿ“Address: Liberty Park, 900 S 700 E, Salt Lake City
๐Ÿ’ตCost: Free
Our take
Pair it with the paddle boats and Tracy Aviary and you have a whole day in one park.
โš ๏ธ Heads up: The park's main playground was being rebuilt in 2026, so check what's open before you go.

Olympic Legacy Plaza fountains, The Gateway

The dancing fountains at the downtown Gateway center are a magnet for kids on a hot afternoon. They run on a music-and-lights cycle, so there is a show between the soakings, and food and shops are steps away when everyone is done.
๐Ÿ•Hours: Warm months, check the fountain schedule
๐Ÿ“Address: The Gateway, 400 W 100 S, Salt Lake City
๐Ÿ’ตCost: Free
Our take
Bring a towel and a change of clothes; the kids always get wetter than you plan.
โš ๏ธ Heads up: It is a public plaza, not a lifeguarded pad, so keep little ones in arm's reach.

Wheeler Historic Farm, Murray

Not a splash pad, but the perfect dry-day pivot: a free working farm in the middle of the valley where kids can visit animals, walk the grounds, and hit the playground. A small fee gets you a wagon or cow-train ride.
๐Ÿ•Hours: Daily, daytime
๐Ÿ“Address: 6351 S 900 E, Murray
๐Ÿ’ตCost: Free (rides extra)
Our take
Go in the morning before the heat and the animals are most active.
โš ๏ธ Heads up: Ride and activity hours are seasonal, so confirm before promising the kids a cow train.

Sugar House Park

A 110-acre classic with a big pond, a recently updated playground, and a shallow stream just north of the play area that kids treat as their own splash zone. Wide-open lawns make it the valley's default picnic park.
๐Ÿ•Hours: Daily, dawn to dusk
๐Ÿ“Address: 1330 E 2100 S, Salt Lake City
๐Ÿ’ตCost: Free
Our take
The west hill is the sledding-and-kite hill the rest of the year; in summer it is shade and frisbee.
โš ๏ธ Heads up: It fills up fast for July 4 fireworks; any other summer day is calm.
