Murray sits right in the middle of the valley and has about 51,000 people. It was a smelter town from the late 1860s and incorporated in 1903; the last smelter stacks came down in 2000, and Intermountain Medical Center stands on the site now. Murray Park along Little Cottonwood Creek and Wheeler Historic Farm are the two places every Murray family knows.

Murray lights its tree at City Hall on 4800 South after a fireworks show, with Santa visits, free hot chocolate and s'mores, and a holiday market from 4 to 8 PM. Bring a new unwrapped toy or canned food for the Murray Children's Pantry.
